I can never remember any of these commands.\u00a0 I know that you flip flop waring, bearded, leather patch wallahs can but heres a list they is very useful.
\nvmstat n<\/strong> – To show Virtual Machine, Disk I\/O, Swap etc use.\u00a0 The n makes it refresh every n seconds
\n\/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-eth1 – Use to set static interface on most Linux’s<\/strong>
\nContents something like:
\n# Description of type
\nDEVICE=eth1
\nBOOTPROTO=static
\nIPADDR=x.x.x.x
\nNETMASK=x.x.x.x
\nONBOOT=yes
\nTYPE=Ethernet<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember to use \/etc\/sysconfig\/network for your default gateway<\/strong><\/p>\n

TAR<\/strong> – Use extracting\/imploding files to one file – does not compress
\ntar cvf nameoftarfile.tar -I textfile.txt<\/strong> – takes the contents of the text file and adds to tar
\ntar xcvf nameoftarfile.tar <\/strong>– extract and verify
\nSolaris and 802.1q tagged interfaces<\/strong>
\nInterfaces are usually called hostname.ceVLANID000
\nAdding Interfaces to Solaris<\/strong> – making sure they work on boot
\nvi \/etc\/netmasks – add the subnet to this
\nvi \/etc\/hosts – add the interface and VLAN
\ncreate a hostname.ceVLANID000 file
\nmanually plumb:
\n\u00a0 plumb eth1 (bring up L1)
\n\u00a0 ifconfig add inet x.x.x.x netmask x.x.x.x broadcast x.x.x.x
\n\u00a0 ifconfig eth1 up
