{"id":136,"date":"2013-05-12T21:28:13","date_gmt":"2013-05-12T20:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iddles.co.uk\/blogs\/?p=136"},"modified":"2013-05-12T21:28:13","modified_gmt":"2013-05-12T20:28:13","slug":"hmrc-basic-paye-tools-for-rti-problems-submitting-rti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iddles.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/05\/12\/hmrc-basic-paye-tools-for-rti-problems-submitting-rti\/","title":{"rendered":"HMRC Basic PAYE Tools for RTI \u2013 Problems submitting RTI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Being part of a small business, we used to\u00a0use the HMRC\u00a0provided Basic PAYE Tools (BPT) for Payroll.\u00a0 With the changes\u00a0in this tax year\u00a0a new version has been provided to support the RTI submissions.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0old software front end was built in Flash with a Python\/MySQL backend.\u00a0 Whether or not that was a good idea\u00a0is debateable but at least\u00a0it was clear.\u00a0 The new version appears to be Python with SQLlite utilising a small HTTP server running on the local machine.<br \/>\nThe new version now looks more like the web site and (IMHO) is very poorly designed.\u00a0 Its over complicated and gives very little feedback.<br \/>\nWe had problems submitting any return.\u00a0 A standard \u2018page cannot be displayed\u2019 was shown.\u00a0 Very helpful.<br \/>\nThe HMRC helpdesks we either engaged or no help so I did some digging\u2026\u2026<br \/>\nI finally stumbled on the solution.\u00a0 We had imported all of our data from the 2012-2013 BPT system, company details and all.\u00a0 Looking at an employees records, all looked well.\u00a0 However, after clicking \u2018edit PAYE details\u2019 some fields were shown to be mandatory.\u00a0 Once these we filled in the preview and submit all worked !!!!<br \/>\nThere does not seem to be any real way to submit any feedback to HMRC but I may try an alternate method &#8230;&#8230; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Being part of a small business, we used to\u00a0use the HMRC\u00a0provided Basic PAYE Tools (BPT) for Payroll.\u00a0 With the changes\u00a0in this tax year\u00a0a new version has been provided to support the RTI submissions.
